The 2008 Fearless Football Forecast

Now that both of my Fantasy Drafts have been completed, I am able to go public with The People's Fearless Forecast.

The J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS will make the playoffs and Brett Favre will finish in the top 5 of the league MVP voting.
He will also cause countless Green Bay Packers fans to throw up in their Cheeseheads not to mention the many orgasmic convulsions of John Madden.
Michael Westbrook will finally break down this season. So will Jamal Lewis.
Brandon Marshall will be the Next Big Thing.
Brady will have an off year, if you consider 38TD's and 4200 yards off.
Eli, excuse me, ELI MANNING-SUPERBOWL XLII MVP will continue to grow and flourish in an offense that returns all 11 of it's starters from it's SUPER BOWL XLII victory.
Derek Anderson will be a huge disappointment this season and make the Browns regret paying him and last years #1 pick, Brady Quinn.
Chris Johnson will be a stud. This season. Bye Bye Lendale.
Reggie Bush will have a big year. So will his QB Drew Brees.
Michael Turner will flourish as a starting RB, something along the lines of 1300 yards rushing and 12 TD's+.
Kurt Warner will continue his recent success and lead Arizona to a playoff spot.
The Steelers will not be as good as most think. Nor will the Vikings. The Steelers will still win their crappy division.
The Raiders wont be as bad. JaMarcus will show flashes of greatness. As will RunDMC.
Did I say Brandon Marshall will be huge this year?
So will Calvin Johnson.
Pennington will show he has something left in the tank. So will Ricky.
Galloway wont. Neither will Marvelous Marvin Harrison, one of the classiest players we have had the privilege to watch.
Marion Barber will not be worthy of the #6-#9 draft position he most frequently went.
Carson Palmer will once again disappoint.
Devin Hester will be electric as a WR for da Bears.
Dante Culpepper will NOT make a comeback from his recent retirement. Not because he lost the itch to play, but because he's awful. He also has the 6th highest completion percentage in NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE history. Which shows you how important that stat is. Take that Eli haters, ummmmm, excuse me, ELI MANNING SUPER BOWL-XLII MVP hatas.
Division Winners
Pats, Steelers, Jags and Chargers in the AFC
Cowboys, Pack, Saints and Cardinal in the NFC
Wild Cards
Jets and Colts in the AFC
Giants and 'Skins in the NFC

Marvin Harrison is one of the classiest......I guess you can easily overlook his involvement in a shooting over the summer and his 5 bastard children

TPC, these posts get saved indefinitely, right? I'd like to go on record here and now and look back in january at how foolish you were. Finally we can actually document your (lack of) predictive ability and forsight.
So here goes:
You conveniently predict 2 guys who are ducks to break down. Though you apparently don't know one of their first names. You could be right on this one, but I dont know either way. I just think your anti-duck bias leads you astray at times.
ok now to predictions i feel more strongly about:
1. JETS will make the playoffs and Brett Favre will finish in the top 5 of the league MVP voting.
Duck Views: You are insane. He's 39 and will play 39. The Jets MAY, MAY MAY go 9-7. Maybe. If that gets em in the playoffs (likely not) it will be by pure fortune. It says here that the Jets are the most overhyped, overrated team in the NFL.

2. Brady will have an off year, if you consider 38TD's and 4200 yards off.
Duck Views: I'll actually take the "over" on both those #s, barring injury.

3. Eli, excuse me, ELI MANNING-SUPERBOWL XLII MVP will continue to grow and flourish.
Duck Views: Um. No. The giants will compete because of a wonderful group of talented RBs and a very good defense with a terrific coordinator. Eli will continue to be the very mediocre QB he has been all along. Expect similar #s to 2007.

3. Derek Anderson will be a huge disappointment this season and make the Browns regret paying him and last years #1 pick, Brady Quinn.
Duck Views: You just ain't paying attention. Anderson is a stud and will click with Braylon big time again.

4. Reggie Bush will have a big
year.
Duck Views: disagree. he's starting to remind me of blair thomas a bit. turn out i dont think hes the every-down back kind of guy.

5. So will his QB Drew Brees.
Duck Views: agree on this. Brees is headed for studville.

6. Michael Turner will flourish as a starting RB, something along the lines of 1300 yards rushing and 12 TD's+.
Duck Views: I could see this going either way.

7. Kurt Warner will continue his recent success and lead Arizona to a playoff spot.
Duck Views: You are smoking some good weed, my friend. No on both counts here.

8. The Steelers will not be as good as most think. Nor will the Vikings.
Duck Views: Disagree. Both are playoff bound with good records, especially Minny.

9. Marion Barber will not be worthy of the #6-#9 draft position he most frequently went.
Duck Views: This shows you've lost it. Barber, if you've watched him AT ALL lately has been proving he's deserved the FT role all along. The guy is GREAT and will play great. The way he runs he actually reminds me of Barry Sanders sometimes. This is the year he actually gets recognized for how great he is.

10. Carson Palmer will once again disappoint.
Duck Views: tough one here. I think he's great so I disagree with you. However, I'm not as high on his supporting cast as others are. I think Ocho and the running game will dissapoint, so it may affect Carson's #s. But he will still play quite well.

11. Devin Hester will be electric as a WR for da Bears.
Duck Views: because he's on team TPC? I cant think of any other reason you'd say this. Were Dave Megget, Desmond Howard, Mel Gray, Dante Hall, Eric Meltaclf, Brian Mitchell, etc. etc. etc. great WR or RBs? Again, you ain't paying attention to your history books here, TPC.

12. Dante Culpepper will NOT make a comeback from his recent retirement.
Duck Views: brilliant prediction. way to go out on a limb here. what's next? you gonna predict ken o'brien is staying retired?

Ducks,
TPC brings facts. You bring Duck hyperbole. What is your basis for the arguments? Your 1-14 record vs. TPC.
Favre had one of his statistical best seasons ever last year and he played with a far less supporting cast on offense than what he has in NY AND he has an easy schedule.

In Derek Andersons last 7 games (almost half an NFL season) he threw 9 TD and 10 INT's. WITH BRAYLON EDWARDS. My stats prove the league caught up with him. Prove to me otherwise. Not with opinions, with facts.
Your comparing Reggie Bush to Blair Thomas???Yes, Reggie isnt the great #1 overall pick they thought he would be, but he's still an excellent receiving back and very useful. He's caught over 160 passes in his two NFL seasons. I seee a combined 1600+ yards.
Marion Barber will now need to shoulder the whole load and if he was so great, why did Dallas take Felix Jones with their #1 pick?

Hester was picked by TPC because I loved him (I picked him up in both my FF leagues). I dont love Hester because I picked him. None of the other players you mentioned had anywhere near the electricity of Hester and none of their teams slotted Hester as their #1 WR going into the season.

Give me a real reason for your thoughts not just nonesense.

TPC, I guess we'll see. And I did give you reasons. Favre is 39. 39. That's a reason. The jets have been scotch taping great parts together. historically, thats unsucessful in the NFL. Favre was great last season-- true. Sometimes great QBs have one last great season as they age. rarely though 2 straight. favre was not great the previous 2 seasons.
Hester is electrifying and so were the billion other kick returners i listed, none of whom were great skill position players. youre the one who didnt respond to facts on that one, not me.
Do you really need me to post Anderson's #s? Seriously? Um, ok. In his first, first, full season at QB he threw for nearly 3,800 yrd and 29 TDs. He's heading to his 3rd year in the NFL, has a wonderful WR talent and is on a team that should be good and exciting. He's primed for another good season. There's your numbers and deeper analysis.
Marion Barber didn't have great #s the past 2 years? I can't answer why the cowboys took jones, teams do dumb things sometimes. and the cowboys have been dumb often lately (i.e., wade phillips, pacman jones) but that has nothing to do with barber who will be the FT rb. he avged 4.8 ypc the past 2 season, tends to have one huge run every game and if you watch him (i am a giants nfc-east guy, so i do) you see more than even just those stats. i'm telling you, he looks like barry sanders to me. he won't be good, he will be GREAT.
As for reggie bush, i dont think he's as bad a blair thomas, but i'm also weary of his every-down-back abilities. he just seems to struggle in that role in the NFL.... guess we'll see.

These posts will still be here in January, right?

i understand all that, but how are jack tripper, balki and Mr. Ferly NOT ahead of Vinny Barbarino or even Norm. jack and balki CARRIED their shows and were brilliant and hysterical. was vinny barbarino really hysterical. some of the lines the writers fed to norm were great, but was he as a rounded character and actor really briliiant? i think it's a different level.
And I'll stick to my cheers was good but overrated statement. It's kind of like Noach. He was great in his time but who knows if he wouldv'e been emmy worthy today. CHeers was during the cosby show, punky brewster days, hardly 24, Seinfeld, Sopranos.
Cosby would not be considered a great show today and neither would cheers, though I think it Would do ok.

oops, how did that happen?

anyway, funny how silent you got on ELI suddenly.

I am not commenting on Eli because we have argued ad naseum on this point. I like ELi. I think he's a top 10 NFL QB. Unlike guys like Boller and Rypien, Eli won the Super Bowl. He needed to drive the entire field on their last possession against the greatest team of all time (at least to that point) and did it in spectacular fashion. As a Giant fan, you should have some Hakoras Hatov to the SUPER BOWL XLII MVP.
Barber is a very good back. He was utilized perfectly in the Dallas system, but now that he is teh featured back I think he takes to many upright hits and wont be able to take the constant punishment.
With Hester, the Bears have made him the #1 WR. None of the others you mentioned (with the exception of Mel Gray- who I dont know how he got on your list.He was an excellent WR and a four time Pro Bowler) were anything but KR and a once in a while change of pace guy.

That may have been your worst post of all time.

a) i never said boller, i said DILFER. dilfer stunk and won a super bowl

b) rypein DID win a Super Bowl. and he stunk too

what did both teams have in common? great defenses. terrific running game.

Like Eli.
